Day 1: Pretoria

Today when you arrive into OR Tambo you will be greeted by our local drive and transferred across to your guesthouse in Pretoria. 

Depending on the time of your flight arrival there will be time to freshen up at the hotel and maybe even relax in your room. In the afternoon we will be heading out on a short city tour of Pretoria.  Key attractions are the Union Building and the Voortrekker Monument Museum which give a fascinating insight into the complex history of South Africa.

In the evening you can make your own arrangements for dinner, or perhaps join together as a group to get to know each other a little better before the tour head out tomorrow.

Day 2: Northern Drakensberg

Today after breakfast there will be a short tour briefing before heading off through the Free State towards the town of Clarens, and then on to the Golden Gate National Park where you will get your first views of South Africa’s picturesque mountain scenery.

Once you arrive at the lodge you have time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the breathtaking views! After dinner, you can spend some time by the crackling fireplace or head back to your cosy wooden cabin. 

Day 3: Northern Drakensberg

Today is your opportunity to engage in the outdoor activities that this area is famed for. You can follow one of many walking trails, take a closer look at rock paintings of the San or look for the elusive Cape vulture. You can even enjoy the area on horseback with options available for beginners and experienced riders.

Day 4: St Lucia

Today after breakfast you will travel on towards the infamous Battlefields where you will visit the Ncome Museum and the Blood River monument. This area has a fascinating history and you will learn all about the battles with the Zulu's.

After lunch, you will travel through the lush green hills of Kwa-Zulu Natal to the coastal town of St. Lucia. Tonight you can are free to make your own arrangements for dinner.

Day 5: St Lucia

Today is exciting for wildlife lovers as it is set aside for game viewing in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. You will have chance to look for rhinos, waterbucks, nyalas, leopard, buffaloes and large kudu herds.

From various parts of the park you can enjoy sights of the Indian Ocean and if you are travelling in whale season there is a small chance you could spot the Southern Right Whales.

At the end of your game drive you have the unique chance of taking a refreshing dip in the Indian Ocean!

In the afternoon it is time to enjoy a boat trip on the St. Lucia Estuary. Hippos, crocodiles and various species of waterfowl can be observed from your boat.

Dinner is once again to be taken at your leisure. 

Day 6: Pongola Game Reserve

Today is an early start as we head to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Southern Africa and well-known for its black and white rhino breeding project. Here you explore the park on game drives in search of the elusive Big Five in their natural habitat.

Your final destination for today is Pongola Game Reserve which is one of South Africa’s oldest game reserves. You can end your day sipping a delicious cold drink, whilst taking in a famous African sunset and the magnificent views over Lake Jozani and the Lebombo Mountains.

Day 7: eSwatini

Start today with an informative bush-walk with a professional walking guide. It is fascinating to explore the area on foot without any disturbing noises. You really feel connected with nature and get to fully take-in the sights, sounds and smells.

After breakfast it is time to head on to head to the second country of the trip eSwatini. During the day you have a short visit to the Mantenga Cultural Village, an authentic living museum, where you can gain insight into the rich Swazi culture, their customs and traditions. 

Day 8: eSwatini

Today you get to decide how you want to experience eSwatini.

You can head into the Milwane Wildlife Reserve by mountain bike, on foot or on horseback, explore the colourful markets and meet with the friendly local people, learn how the decorative Swazi Candles are being made at a local factory or you can witness the magical art of glassblowing. 

Your guide will provide full details of the options available, or you can simply take the time to relax. 

Day 9: Southern Kruger

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye to eSwatini and head over to the world famous Kruger National Park. 

Not only will you find large herds of elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, lions and leopards, but also around 150 species of mammals, more than 500 bird species and almost 100 different reptiles. On your game drives in the afternoon, you will explore the wildlife-rich southern part of the park. 

Day 10: Southern Kruger

The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Kruger National Park. In the morning, you will set off on an extensive game drive in an open safari vehicle and then in the early evening you will have the opportunity to join a fascinating night game drive with a national park ranger. 

Day 11: Hazyview

Today you can choose to have a leisurely morning or join an optional walking safari with an informative park ranger. 

After breakfast, head out on your last game drive on your way out of the park. You will then continue on through to Hazyview and then on to your accommodation for the evening. Your afternoon is perfect for relaxing around the lush green gardens of the lodge, or perhaps take a refreshing dip in the pool.

Day 12: Hazyview

An exciting day lays ahead as you are off to the Panorama Route! Look forward to visiting God’s Window with vast views across the lowveld and surrounding area. You will also stop at the Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels which are three round mountain tops resembling traditional African homesteads. Finally you get to take in the stunning views of the impressive Blyde River Canyon.

Day 13: End of Itinerary

After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, drive through the province of Mpumalanga on the way back to Johannesburg. Your guide will take you to the airport and you will be able to fly back home in the evening.
